D-Dogs. We love all animals but especially dogs. When we adopted our beautiful black and white Border Collie, Penelope Ann, we knew that she had a condition called MegaEsophagus, a disorder in which the esophagus has a hard time transporting food from the mouth to the stomach. When we first adopted “Penny” at 11 weeks old, she came with a custom high chair, and after she grew out of it her “Daddy” (Jeff) made her a custom platform to eat on and also attached a large hamster bottle to it, since she also needs to drink upright. Penny is doing well and is even preparing us for our human baby since she needs to get her food mushed, eat in a high chair, get burped after she eats, and be calm-crated. MegaE can be a death sentence, due to asperating pneumonia, but doesn’t have to be if you are willing to work at feeding. She is now a 4-year-old, 30-pound combination of sweet and sassy, and is definitely a “daddy’s girl.”
When “Penny” was 2 we adopted her a 7-month-old brother, Maverick James, from a foster home that had 16 other dogs. “Maverick” is a shar-pei/black lab mix, he is the sweetest boy ever and “mommy’s” cuddle bug. He is also a good guard dog, and protective of his family.
We also have a cat named Diana who thinks she is a dog. Her favorite thing to do is flop on her back for a belly rub just like her canine siblings.
E- Each other “Amber-Dawn is the most thoughtful, caring person I have ever met, she is so fun to be around. She would make an amazing mom because she was born for this”. -Jeff
“Jeff is my rock and my best friend, he is so caring and is such a good provider Jeff would make a great dad because he is so good with our foster respite boys and is a very involved “Fur dad” -Amber-Dawn
F-Family and Friends."We may have our differences but nothing’s more important than family” -Miguel (from the movie “Coco “)
Jeff has one half-sister, two grown nieces, and a grown nephew who live in Wisconsin, his mom, dad, and grandma live in our town. Amber-Dawn has three half-sisters, one half-brother, and 12 nieces and nephews most of whom live here in Wisconsin. We have many friends that we consider family and try to get together when our schedules match up.
